Update

I keep saying that I will become a better blogger but I kinda just suck at it. I am always so busy that I never make time to blog, which is dumb b/c the reason that I have a blog is so that I can look back and remember these times in my life, so it really should be a priority to sit down and write about it!! The other reason that I sometimes don't take the time to write is b/c I think I write about the same thing every time....Haylen...and think that not everybody constantly wants to hear about him....well too bad for you!!....I blog about my life and he is the biggest part of my life so if you wanna keep reading then enjoy!!

Haylen is now 14 months old!!! oh boy..... It feels like yesterday I was saying, "I can't believe he is 2 months old" and now he is 14 months!! He really does get more fun each and every single day. I just love that little man so much. So what has this adorable little boy been up to lately? Well I'll let you know

1) He LOVES his puppies, gives them hugs and kisses all day long. He even uses Kalla as his own personal chair and loves to sit on her.
2) He pats his chest to call the dogs....gives them a hug once they come, the says "Get" ha ha
3) He loves to blow kisses and has for a few months now
4) High 5's are his personal favorite!! Every night when I put him to bed I say "Haylen do you know that mommy loves you?" (he nods his head yes) Then I say "Do you love mommy" and he nods his head yes again.... Then I lay him down and he has to give me a high 5 before he takes his baba and goes night nights!
5) Brushing his teeth is another one of his favorites, he will brush them all day every day if I let him. Once he is done brushing he then throws his toothbrush in the sink.
6) Potty!!! We are working on potty training. He has his own little potty and 2 or 3 times a day I will ask him if he wants to sit on the potty. If he says yes then he will sit there for about 5 minutes (brushing his teeth of course) But if he says "no" then that is fine, I will not push him at all, he is only 14 months old. But I figured if he wants to sit there then great!! Oh and he has yet to actually "go potty", but I think sitting there is a great start!
7) He goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until 8:30 am every night!! Its WONDERFUL! Ryan and I get to spend lots of time together and I get lots of stuff done this way
8) He loves to Clap and say 'yeaaaa'
9) His words are "mama, Tab (Nice I know), dada, baba, get, mmmm (for snacks)" that's about it... He nods his head yes or no and usually gets the right answer when you ask him a question
10) He is still a great eater!! I don't know how he is not 784 lbs already with the amount that kid eats!
11) He now gets time outs and has to stand in the corner if he does something he knows that he is not supposed to (I know I'm such a mean mom!) ha!
12) He loves to color, he still puts the crayon's in his mouth a lot, but I have found him with a pen and paper laying on the floor coloring.....how adorable!!

Well that is pretty much all that I can think of. I was meaning to do a "1 year" post of all the things he can do....but hey now we get a 14 month old post right!! Oh and how weird is this.... I haven't been taking very many pictures lately....all throughout November I don't think I have taken a single one of him....So I will post the pictures that we took in October of Haylen and I because I LOVE them!! (and besides its a sin to do a post with no pictures right...!)

Opinions

My opinions on opinions is that everyone should keep their opinions to themselves. I'm breaking the rules on this rule and am going to give you my opinion on the topic because I think it's beneficial and everyone can learn from it....maybe that's why people voice their opinions all the time, who knows what goes on in some peoples heads. But I think if your opinion is going to help the topic or help someone else or if asked for then by all means be completely honest and give it. But if your going to give your opinion to be a cow, saying your one of those people 'who always speak the truth and give your opinion no matter what' then you need to learn to shut your mouth. Let me give you some examples of what I mean, since I probably have you totally confused,

Example #1: "OMG that dress looks horrible on you, its the ugliest thing I've ever seen" - From a loud "I'm gonna speak the truth no matter what" girl you run into at the mall
However if she were your friend and you asked her for her opinion and she says its ugly and doesn't suit you, then great, thanks for the help.....otherwise she just made you feel like a pile of cow dung right?

Anyways, this all comes from being a new mommy. Everyone is going to have different opinions on everything and how to raise your kids, but sometimes you just don't want to hear what other people have to say.

Example: "OMG I can't believe you don't give your kid sugar, its not going to kill them" ..... as if its a horrible thing I don't feed my son junk food. And your right its not going to kill him to have it, but its not going to kill him if he doesn't have it.

Well for the past year I have been hearing "do this, don't do that, do this" and I have learnt to listen to what people say, and do what I think is best for my son and be proud of what I am doing for him and truly believe it in. More example you ask? well for instant, Breastfeeding, seemed to be a big one. Not everyone is on bored with the subject, especially when it comes to my family, which makes it even harder. I am officially done nursing my son now since he turned 1 year old, and I am VERY proud to say that I nursed him for a full year!! (pats on my back!) Breastfeeding is by far the best thing you can every do for you child, and you will constantly hear "thats gross" or "thier too old" etc... Other examples are letting him sleep in my room. Haylen was 4 months when I moved him out of the bassinet in my room and into his own room. I heard over and over "why is he still in your room" and to be honest I would break down and cry every time I thought about putting him in his own room, up until the day I did!! That day I thought "hey maybe Haylen can try sleeping in his own room tonight" and he did, and we never turned back he's been there ever since, and I was totally at peace with it. I have just decided that YOU know what is best for you and your baby and no matter what your parents, in laws, health nurser or siblings say, you do what you know is right for your baby, stick with it and be proud of it!!

I have been extremely emotional lately, because I have been feeling the pressure to take Haylen off the bottle, (at 10 months I started loosing my milk and started him on the bottle, but still nursed him once a day until he turned 1, but now he is a fulltime bottle junkie) Well after spending 3 days crying on and off when I would think about stopping the bottle, I started thinking, WHY, who says I have to stop bottle feeding my baby??? sure that is what they recommend, but they can shove that recommendation right but their butts, b/c I am not ready to stop snuggling my baby boy while he sucks back on his "ba ba."

So to conclude this long and confusing post, here is the moral of the story(s)

KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF!!

ENGAGED!!!

Ryan and I are getting MARRIED!!!August 27th was our 4 year anniversary and since we were heading out of town that weekend to go camping we spent a special day down at the lake on August 25th were he popped the big question. Ryan had this big idea of renting a boat to take out on the lake, since it was a little breezy that day I was being a baby and not really wanting to go, well he convinced me and I'm sure glad he did. Haylen was sitting on my lap and Ryan said I want to give you your anniversary present now, so he reached into his pocket and I'm sitting there thinking "oh no he's not going to ask me to marry him is he".....lol...... well he sure did and of course I said YES!!! The whole ride back I kept saying "so were actually going to get married, like we are actually engaged?!?!!?" lol I'm such a loser, I'm surprised he didn't take his ring back and throw me over board! I guess someone had to hold Haylen while he rowed our butts back to shore, so he had to keep me around!!

We have no idea when the big day will be yet. The only thing that we do know is that it will be August 27th (we want to keep our anniversary date the same....cheesy I know!) so the wedding may be 2011, or 2020....who knows, I'll keep ya posted!!!

Walking Midget

My "baby" is a full out walking machine now!! He's 9 and 1/2 months and EVERYWHERE!! A week before he turned 8 months he took his first solo steps!! Yes my kid is a prodigy child!! The past month he has been walking all around while holding on to my hand.....only one hand though cuz he needs his other hand to touch everything he See's (he defiantly gets that from his mama!) Well all that practice paid off for him, and he is into everything! He has figured out how to open all our cupboards and drawers, so if you leave him alone for a milla second who knows what you will find him into. Yesterday I found him licking smooched strawberries off the floor, and today he found a piece of dog food and was munching away on that like it was the best thing ever!!

Oh and other exciting stuff.....HE FINALLY GOT TEETH!!! yes TEETH....3 in one day!! What a trooper eh! Needless to say that the past 2 weeks have kinda been a nightmare of a cranky, fussy, rashy, swollen gums, crabby boy, but we made it thought it, and he looks cuter than ever with his top 2 and bottom right teeth!! His other top left (next to the front 2) and bottom left are just under the gums and should be popping through any day now too!! I just can't believe he got 3 in one day, poor guy!

Well I know I always say how much I love being  a mommy and I think it can never get better than the present days....but seriously it does!! I LOVE the 9 month age!!! Haylen is so in dependant and adventurous. I just love watching what he is going to do next!! At 9 months He is:

1) Walking on his own
2) Sporting 3 shiny new teeth
3) Crawling (he walked before he knew how to crawl)
4) Eating whatever mommy and daddy eat for supper! I love this since I made all his baby food before and now I just have to cook one meal we can all enjoy!
5) Dances every time he hears music
6) Waves bye-bye
7) Signs along to some songs
8) Says dada, and mama
9) Is still being breastfed, which I am very proud of!!
10) Loves to talk to his grandma on the phone, he gets a huge grin on his face every time he hears the phone ringing knowing its most likely his grandma Max. He also puts all remotes and phones to his ear and pretends to talk on them
11) He plays peek-a-boo by turning his head really fast away from you then back at you!
12) He knows how to make people laugh, and loves doing it
13) He loves watching video's of himself and smiles and laughs at whatever he's doing in the video
14) Sleeps between 8 and 11 hours at night
15) Goes to bed between 9 and 10
16) Weighs 20 lbs
17) Has to step on everything that is on the floor as he passes it
18) Pulls all my books and everything off my bookshelf while I blog or facebook
19) Drinks out of a cup
20) Loves playing in the bath and outside
21) Loves playing at the park, the swings and slides are his favorite
22) Loves going for walks, mommy tires to take him every night for a walk
23) Is a nightmare to change his diaper, he has no time to lay down for 4 seconds to change his bum.....poopy diapers are a joy!!
24) He feeds himself everything...I mentioned he eats all our food, but he has to feed it to himself
25) If you have food, you also have  a new bbf!!

My own Personal Nose Picker!

Yup that's right, I no longer have to pick my own nose, I have someone to do it for me!!

I honestly think that is Haylen's new favorite thing to do.... At nap times I lay down with him either on my bed, or rock with him in his room, either way he for some reason feels the need to have his finger up my nose. I've kinda gotten used to it, except when he takes it out then trys to shove his finger in my mouth.....Agh, I don't eat snot!!! and I don't wanna start!! my kid is a freak! It also sucks when he decides he needs to scrape the inside of my nose and try to make me bleed. He also is in a pinching phase and likes to pinch the flub on the back of my arms!! I don't know why he trys to hurt me.....must be payback for always picking his snotty nose when he was younger!!

Anyways, he's getting cuter and cuter every day, here are pictures from his aunties prom to prove it!!

Happy Mothers Day

I LOVE BEING A MOMMY!!!

There is no greater love than the love a mother has for their child. I never believe that quote before thinking I love Ryan so much how could I possibly love anything more than him..... Well along comes your 1st child and its like i don't even like Ryan compared to my love for my son!!! Any mother would agree with me on this, and It takes a mother to know the great power of love for their child!!

Today was my first mothers day and it couldn't have been any more perfect. I slept in until 10:30... Yea me!! Then woke up, had breakfast cooked for me. Then hung out with my baby boy while daddy cleaned the house spotless!! Then Ryan's family came over for a steak dinner where I didn't have to do a single thing!! Dinner was cooked, desert was served, and dishes were cleaned without my help!!! I LOVE MOTHERS DAY...It should come around more often than once a year!!

After Dinner we took Haylen to the park for the first time. He loved the slide!! It is so much fun to watch him grow and see him get excited over things. I love that kid to pieces!! After supper we went for a walk, then it was bath and bed time for the little guy. Mother day is defiantly my new favorite day of the year. As hard as it is to be a mommy some times, I wouldn't change a single thing about my life. I have the best life ever with the best son and the best Family!!!

I also have a wonderful mom!!! She is absolutely amazing. If I am half as good of a mom as she is I will be proud!! She is an amazing lady and I couldn't be more proud to call her mom!!

I am also blessed to have a wonderful mother in law who is always there for us no matter!! I couldn't have asked for a better lady to call my mother in law!!

Mothers day should defiantly come around more than once a year!!!

Mommy Tips

Before I was a mommy I thought I knew everything there was to having a baby. Change a few diapers, feed the kid every now and then, cuddle them when they cry, play with their toys....Piece of cake right.... After all I read all the books preparing me for the things that I was unsure of so this should be a simple walk in the park...right?.....WRONG... and Boy was I wrong! ha. don't get me wrong, being a mommy is by far the best, most enjoyable thing I could have ever done with my life. I enjoy every single minute of it, and wouldn't rather be doing anything other then spending time with my little boy.

But here are a few tips of being a mommy that the books, the babysitting lessons, and the experts don't always teach you.....

1)Dishes, laundry, house work, and supper don't always get done. Your house will be a complete pig sty sometimes and as much as that may stress me out, its OK. Order in sometimes and let someone else do the cooking. You will be far to tired in the beginning, just after you bring your little baby home to worry about these things. LET THEM GO, your family and company will understand that you have far more important things to take care of now.

2)NURSING PADS....buy them, you will need them, and lots of them at first

3)Nursing Bra's... Lets face it your boobs will go from little oranges to gigantic watermellons. eeek. I bought all my nursing bra's before I had Haylen. Of course your boobs get bigger just while you are pregnant so I thought great i'll buy them now so i'm totally prepared, and besides they will definatly be big enough since I am already buying 3 sizes up from what I am. well WRONG again. I went to put mine on after I had Haylen and they were WAY to small. I had to send poor Ryan out to buy me some new bra's. ha, poor guy! Well after the first month or so your boobs do get a little smaller, and I was able to fit into the ones I bought while still pregnant, so don't worry you wouldn't be stuck with watermellons forever.

4)Lanalin cream.... Best invention ever. BUY SOME. It is a soothing nipple cream for breastfeeding, and believe me you will need it.

5)Nipple Shields. Alot of people don't know what these are, but they were a life saver to me. without going into alot of detail, I had ALOT of pain while breastfeeding my son. I was cracked and bleeding alot, so the nurse gave me one of these to try and it protects you from that. They are designed for mom's who have a fast milk flow so that the baby can slow the amount they intake, so they work for a few differnt things

6)Breastfedding HURTS. No matter what anybody tells you. It hurts. but it is SO worth it. I don't need to tell you about the great benifts to your baby, everybody knows that, but it is the best bond with your baby. Its a great feeling to know that you are the one and only person who can take care of your baby in that specail way. I honestly did not want to breastfeed at first. I thought it was gross. But I thought, I'll just do this for him for a few months just to give him the good benifits for his health. But i ended up loving it. Oh and after about a month or so the pain goes away and it doesn't hurt at all anymore, so just stick with it for your baby no matter how much it hurts you.

7)Electric Breast Pumps are the best. To store your breastmilk I have a great system. Get the breastmilk bags from Walmart. Before you put the milk in the bag, mark on it the date you pumped, and the amount of ounces going into the bag. Then once you have the milk in, lay it flat in your freezer so when it freezes it takes up the whole bag but it will be so thin that it will defrost in seconds. Then get a shoe box and file your milkbags in it, putting the oldest milk in the front and newest in the back.

8)Do not thaw breakmilk out in the microwave. Put it in hot water for a few seconds and let it thaw that way.

9)Every Fart is not a poop.

10)Wait a few minutes after a poop to make sure they are done. Seriously. wait. I have been pooped on a few times while changing a diaper thinking, He can't possible have anymore poop in him....and then out it comes! Gross I know!

11)"Pee Pee - Tee Pee's" are great for little boys.

12) If your diapers are leaking move to the next size up. This seems like common sense when I say it like that, but we were constantly finding Haylen's sleepers covered in poo or soaking wet with pee when we would pick him up from his naps. He was only a month old so about 8-9 lbs. Newborn diapers say they are good until 11 lbs, and they fit him really good so we didn't think that should be the problem. We even switch diaper brands thinking that huggies just sucked, but we had the same thing with pampers. And the same problem with size 1 diapers when he got to fitting in that size. So moral of the story...even if the diapers fit perfect or the weight they say on the box is in your babies range, but they are still leaking move to the size up. They will fit big, but solve the messy problem.

13)You can never have to many diapers. Pack more then you think you will ever need in your diaper bag, and even keep extra's in your veichle.

14)Pack and extra shirt for yourself in the daiper bag.

15)Cute bibs are great. You buy a super cute shirt, wanting to show it off...and soon enough it it soaking wet in drool and have to change it. Or it just gets covered with a bib. So buy cute bibs.

16)The person who invented baby sizing for clothes was on drugs. Seriously, they are dumb. My son is an averaged size baby who is 5 months old and wears 9-12 month sized clothes. NEVER go by the sizes that the tags say for buying stuff, they are wrong. I got alot of clothes as gifts for my baby shower, but they were all sizes 6 - 12 months so I just put them in a drawer thinking, when he is 6 months old I will pull them out and he can wear them then...wrong again. Well I went through that drawer when he was about 3-4 months old, and alot of the clothes fit him perfectly then, and some were already too small. Also a size 6 months from one store will not be the same 6 month size from another store so watch out for that too.

17)Burp cloths are great. I got one from a friend before I had Haylen and didn't even know what it was...ha I soon found out they are great!

18)Spray and Wash. The person who invented spray and wash should be given a medal! BUY SOME, it gets all puke and poop stains out, even set in ones. BUY SOME

19)Vasaline!! Another great invention. It cures everything. If your baby has craddle cap (dry skin on his head) vasaline is great. Also all babies 'shed' their skin when they are a few weeks old, and so they have really dry skin. baby oil sucks. it's good for nothing but making things slippery. don't buy it. Vasaline is the way to go. Oh and vasaline is best for diaper rash too. Penatin (sp) works good, but its so thick and hard to spread, that vasaline is way better and easier to use.

20)Diaper rash is a sign of teething

21)Bottles. If you are going to give your baby a bottle you should introduce it before 3-4 weeks. Haylen is only breastfed but I wanted to make sure that he would take a bottle just incase he needed to, so we gave him his first one at 31/2 weeks and he took it no problem. My kid is kinda a pig tho, so it was easy for him. But some babies if you wait until they are older it will be alot harder to give them the bottle cuz they wouldn't know what it is.

22)Vitamin D. All breastfed babies need vitamin D, since it is not passed through breastmilk. "D vi sol" Is the type of stuff that I give and its very easy to give with a dropper and tastes great

23)Gripe Water is a good thing. Buy some.

24)"Boogies Wipes" are sold at walmart in the pharmacy section. Buy some. They contain saline which helps break up snot.

25)Saline Drops are great. Haylen is a very stuffed up kid. He has lots of boogers. Pleasent I know. Put a few drops up the nose and put them on their belly and they will shoot right out. You can buy them at any pharmacy. go buy some.

26)Pictures and video's. You can NEVER have to many pictures or videos' of your kids!! They grow up way to fast so take too many pictures, you will be glad you did

27)Cherish and enjoy every minute with your baby....even the tough times

28)Tummy Time is important

29)Alone time. Sometimes when Haylen is crying I will rock him, feed him, walk with him, talk to him, do anything. But once I just put him down in his crib after he cried for a while and I tried everything, and he fell right alseep. So try just putting your baby down if you don't know what else to do, they may just want to be alone.

30)Jumperoo's are the best things ever. Buy one.

31)Soother stings. Buy one of those too. Haylen went through a phase where he spit out his soother and it would fall on the floor. I would wash it, but it back in, and he would spit it out....then cry cuz he wanted it again, agh, I was ready to duct tape his soother to his face. But then I got one of those soothers clips that clip to their shirt and the soother, and problem solved, it didn't hit the floor anymore.

32)Teething...aaghhh....this is where i need help. Haylen's bottom front 2 teeth are trying to pop through. I have some natural teething pills and they work great. I also keep a frozen water filled teething ring in the freezer and he loves that. I've given him a wet wash cloth to suck on, rubbed his gums, bought tons of teething toys, and it still hurts him. poor guy.

33)Shots are hard. prepare yourself for needle days. Breast feed him after he gets his needles and it will take his mind off the pain, and you can cuddle him while feeding.

34)Dental care. Even though babies don't have teeth yet, you still have to clean their mouths. Either wash with a wet cloth or brush them with a finger brush from walmart. Very important you do this!

35)Read to your baby. They love it and it helps them learn!!

36) Humidifers are great. Buy a cold mist one so that when your baby starts moving you don't have to worry about them burning themselves on the steam.

37) Hand Sanitizers are also great. But be careful and make sure you get the alchol free ones. I got some with the alchol in it from Walmart and rubbed it on my hands, then was eating an apple, and couldn't figure out why my apple tasted so gross....well it was becuase I was tasting the alchol from the sanitizer. So you don't want to rub it on your hands, touch your babies toys, then have them put it in their mouths.

38) Breastfed babies can go 7-10 days without pooping. Haylen usally goes about 3-4 days....just be prepared after a few days for a MAJOR poop explosion!!

39) Hug and kiss your baby everynight before bedtime

40) Tell your baby you love them all the time. This may sound crazy to some people but I swear Haylen has said "I love you" 3 times already....really.... I swear. Once to me, then once to Ryan, and I don't know what was funnier, the fact that it sounded so much like he said "I love you" or the look on Ryan's face. LOL it was way to cute. But babies mimic and mock the sounds that they hear, so "I love you" must be one thing that he hears the most.

Well that is all my great mommy wisdom that I have learnt over the past 5 months. I hope that helps out all new mommies or mommies to be!! If anybody has anymore tips on anything plz comment and let me know.
