Opinions

My opinions on opinions is that everyone should keep their opinions to themselves. I'm breaking the rules on this rule and am going to give you my opinion on the topic because I think it's beneficial and everyone can learn from it....maybe that's why people voice their opinions all the time, who knows what goes on in some peoples heads. But I think if your opinion is going to help the topic or help someone else or if asked for then by all means be completely honest and give it. But if your going to give your opinion to be a cow, saying your one of those people 'who always speak the truth and give your opinion no matter what' then you need to learn to shut your mouth. Let me give you some examples of what I mean, since I probably have you totally confused,

Example #1: "OMG that dress looks horrible on you, its the ugliest thing I've ever seen" - From a loud "I'm gonna speak the truth no matter what" girl you run into at the mall
However if she were your friend and you asked her for her opinion and she says its ugly and doesn't suit you, then great, thanks for the help.....otherwise she just made you feel like a pile of cow dung right?

Anyways, this all comes from being a new mommy. Everyone is going to have different opinions on everything and how to raise your kids, but sometimes you just don't want to hear what other people have to say.

Example: "OMG I can't believe you don't give your kid sugar, its not going to kill them" ..... as if its a horrible thing I don't feed my son junk food. And your right its not going to kill him to have it, but its not going to kill him if he doesn't have it.

Well for the past year I have been hearing "do this, don't do that, do this" and I have learnt to listen to what people say, and do what I think is best for my son and be proud of what I am doing for him and truly believe it in. More example you ask? well for instant, Breastfeeding, seemed to be a big one. Not everyone is on bored with the subject, especially when it comes to my family, which makes it even harder. I am officially done nursing my son now since he turned 1 year old, and I am VERY proud to say that I nursed him for a full year!! (pats on my back!) Breastfeeding is by far the best thing you can every do for you child, and you will constantly hear "thats gross" or "thier too old" etc... Other examples are letting him sleep in my room. Haylen was 4 months when I moved him out of the bassinet in my room and into his own room. I heard over and over "why is he still in your room" and to be honest I would break down and cry every time I thought about putting him in his own room, up until the day I did!! That day I thought "hey maybe Haylen can try sleeping in his own room tonight" and he did, and we never turned back he's been there ever since, and I was totally at peace with it. I have just decided that YOU know what is best for you and your baby and no matter what your parents, in laws, health nurser or siblings say, you do what you know is right for your baby, stick with it and be proud of it!!

I have been extremely emotional lately, because I have been feeling the pressure to take Haylen off the bottle, (at 10 months I started loosing my milk and started him on the bottle, but still nursed him once a day until he turned 1, but now he is a fulltime bottle junkie) Well after spending 3 days crying on and off when I would think about stopping the bottle, I started thinking, WHY, who says I have to stop bottle feeding my baby??? sure that is what they recommend, but they can shove that recommendation right but their butts, b/c I am not ready to stop snuggling my baby boy while he sucks back on his "ba ba."

So to conclude this long and confusing post, here is the moral of the story(s)

KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF!!

ENGAGED!!!

Ryan and I are getting MARRIED!!!August 27th was our 4 year anniversary and since we were heading out of town that weekend to go camping we spent a special day down at the lake on August 25th were he popped the big question. Ryan had this big idea of renting a boat to take out on the lake, since it was a little breezy that day I was being a baby and not really wanting to go, well he convinced me and I'm sure glad he did. Haylen was sitting on my lap and Ryan said I want to give you your anniversary present now, so he reached into his pocket and I'm sitting there thinking "oh no he's not going to ask me to marry him is he".....lol...... well he sure did and of course I said YES!!! The whole ride back I kept saying "so were actually going to get married, like we are actually engaged?!?!!?" lol I'm such a loser, I'm surprised he didn't take his ring back and throw me over board! I guess someone had to hold Haylen while he rowed our butts back to shore, so he had to keep me around!!

We have no idea when the big day will be yet. The only thing that we do know is that it will be August 27th (we want to keep our anniversary date the same....cheesy I know!) so the wedding may be 2011, or 2020....who knows, I'll keep ya posted!!!
